Adding Positly’s Screening Link to your activity

Updated: 19, Mon, 2024 02:10 PM

When you enable screening on Positly, we will provide you with one or two screening links, depending on whether you’re using the Microtasker or Panel Provider platform. Visit this page for more information about Positly’s screening features.

Screening on the Microtasker platform

To use screening on Positly’s Microtasker platform, you need two separate activities at separate links: a screening activity that only contains your screening questions, and a main activity that contains the rest of your questions.

Your screening activity will need to separate eligible and ineligible participants based on their answers to your screening questions.

Eligible participants (and no one else) should reach your screen-in link. Ineligible participants should reach your screen-out link.

It’s easiest if participants can access either link via an automatic redirect. This means that once their eligibility is determined, your screening activity will automatically send them to the right link. If you’re using GuidedTrack, you can use the *goto key word to automatically redirect participants. This is also possible in most major survey building tools, though a paid account may be necessary.

If you cannot automatically redirect participants, your screening links should be provided on the last page of your screening activity, after you have separated eligible and ineligible participants. It’s a good idea to include instructions such as: “Please click this link to complete this activity and get paid.”

Participants may encounter an error if they open a screening link in a different browser or incognito instance of the same browser because Positly tracks their progress using browser cookies.

Your completion link, which Positly provides on the last page when you’re setting up a run, should be added at the end of your main activity. Similar to screening links, it’s best if your completion link is an automatic redirect for all participants who reach the end of your main activity. However, if that’s not possible, you should provide the link to participants on the final page of your main activity.

Screening on the Panel Provider platform

To use screening on Positly’s Panel Provider platform, you only need one activity, with your screening questions at the beginning and your main questions immediately after.

Your screening questions will need to separate eligible and ineligible participants based on their answers.

Ineligible participants (and no one else) should reach your screen-out link. All other eligible participants can continue in your activity to the end.

It’s easiest if ineligible participants can access your screen-out link via an automatic redirect. This means that once they’re ineligible, your screening activity will automatically send them to the screen-out. If you’re using GuidedTrack, you can use the *goto key word to automatically redirect participants. This is also possible in most major survey building tools, though a paid account may be necessary.

If you cannot automatically redirect participants, your screen-out link should be provided on a page that only ineligible participants can reach after completing your screening questions. It’s a good idea to include instructions such as: “Please click this link to complete this activity and get paid.”

Participants may encounter an error if they open your screen-out link in a different browser or incognito instance of the same browser because Positly tracks their progress using browser cookies.

Your completion link, which Positly provides on the last page when you’re setting up a run, should be added at the end of your activity. Similar to your screen-out link, it’s best if your completion link is an automatic redirect for all participants who reach the end of your activity. However, if that’s not possible, you should provide the link to participants on the final page of your activity.
