Instructions for integrating Typeform with Positly

Updated: 20, Tue, 2024 10:20 AM

Positly and Typeform play very well together with Positly sending pre-screened Participants to Typeform to complete an Activity and then Typeform sending Participants back to Positly to confirm completion and provide Feedback.

At each stage of the process data can be dynamically shared between Positly and Typeform using Query strings. This has several benefits:

  • Activity completion is faster
  • Pre-screened Participant attributes enrich the study with additional data
  • Pre-screening improves accuracy and prevents Participants from gaming a screener
  • Using Query strings to receive Positly data makes data cleaning, preparation and analysis easier (no need to fiddle around joining data)
  • Using Query strings to send data to Positly enables the retargeting or exclusion of participants based on Custom attributes

Note: Proper integration requires the paid version of Typeform.

Receiving Positly’s Participant data in Typeform using hidden fields

Follow these instructions to set up Typeform’s hidden fields to accept Positly’s participant attributes using Query strings.

  1. Open your Typeform then go to the blocks settings in the Create” panel
  2. This opens the blocks menu, and at the bottom you will see “Hidden Fields” . Click this to get started.
  3. A new field will appear at the top of your typeform editor. This is where you can add your hidden fields.
  4. Type the names of the hidden fields you want to add. Hit space to add another.
    • Note:  Use our default attribute names or customise them using the Configure button. Assignment ID is required .
    • Warning: TypeForm will give you a link that includes dummy values (e.g. assignmentID=xxxxx), do not use this link as your ActivityLink, only use the base URL (the parts before the ‘?’) which does not include these extra values.

Successful participants will need to be redirected to Positly’s Completion link to confirm their completion using Typeform’s Redirect after submitting feature.

  1. Click on the “Settings” icon at the bottom of the toolbar panel on the left of the screen.
  2. Turn on the “Redirect after submitting” button
  3. Paste in the Completion link

Dynamically sending  Custom attributes  from Typeform to Positly

You can also choose to dynamically pass Participant data back to Positly as Custom attributes when setting the redirect link by clicking the + sign and selecting a field. Alternatively, you can type the ‘@’ symbol to bring up this list of variables.
