Instructions for integrating Pollfish with Positly

Updated: 18, Mon, 2025 09:57 AM

Positly and Pollfish work seamlessly together. Positly sends pre-screened participants to Pollfish to complete an activity, and then Pollfish redirects participants back to Positly to confirm completion and provide feedback.

At each stage of the process, data can be dynamically shared between Positly and Pollfish using query strings. This integration provides several benefits:

  • Faster activity completion
  • Richer datasets, as pre-screened participant attributes from Positly are carried into Pollfish
  • Improved accuracy, with screening handled upfront to prevent participants from gaming the screener
  • Easier data cleaning and preparation (no manual joins needed)
  • Ability to retarget or exclude participants in Positly based on custom attributes received from Pollfish

Receiving Positly’s Participant data in Pollfish

By default, Pollfish automatically receives basic participant data from Positly, no setup required.

⚠️ Important: Do not change any attribute names in Positly.

The following data points are automatically passed:

  • Assignment ID
  • Participant ID
  • Project ID
  • Country
  • Device Type (Desktop / Tablet / Mobile)
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Household Income

When submitting the Activity link in Positly, the Pollfish URL should be plain, without URL parameters, for example:

https://wss.pollfish.com/link/a1234567-abcd-abcd-abcd-123aabbcc123

Redirecting from Pollfish to Positly’s Completion link

To ensure participants are properly recorded as completed in Positly, you’ll need to configure Pollfish to redirect them to Positly’s completion link.

  1. In your Pollfish dashboard, open your Survey.
  2. On the Survey page, go to the Audiences section.
  3. Under “Survey end page”, select “Custom redirect URLs”.
  4. Set the “Survey completed URL” to your Positly completion link (see screenshot below).
